At The Help(KC), we believe transitional housing shouldn’t feel temporary, sterile or second-rate, when visitors walk through the doors of our housing program, the first thing they say is: “This looks like an Airbnb!” That’s not just a compliment but its confirmation that we are doing something right.
The Help(KC)’s Transitional Residence Program supports women rebuilding their lives after financial setbacks or periods of being unhoused. More than just housing, it is beautifully designed, it provides the resources, education, and guidance needed to restore financial stability, improve credit, and build savings, creating long-term, sustainable change.
Our program addresses both personal and systemic barriers, including debt, limited credit, and restricted access to education or job opportunities. By tackling these challenges at their root, our housing program empowers women to overcome past struggles and build a stable, independent futures.
Our What the HEC? Employment Readiness Program is designed to empower system-impacted and underserved women with the skills, certifications, and connections they need to secure immediate employment while building pathways toward long-term career success. Beyond traditional job placement, our program provides comprehensive support to help women gain confidence and professional skills.
Unemployed and underemployed women who are ready to restart their careers, gain stability, and move toward financial independence

Since launching What the HEC?Housing, Employment, and Credit in December 2024, we’ve been proud to support women on their journey to financial independence and stability:
Through these results, What the HEC? continues to transform barriers into opportunities, helping women rebuild their lives and achieve lasting success
Credit is more than just a three-digit number, it’s one of the most powerful financial tools you can have. A strong credit profile opens the door to opportunities that can impact nearly every part of your life. From buying a home or a car, to qualifying for business funding, to securing lower interest rates, your credit score often determines the cost and accessibility of your goals.
Unfortunately, many women don’t realize how deeply credit influences everyday living. Landlords often use it to decide if you qualify for housing, employers may check it during the hiring process, and utility companies use it when setting deposits. Good credit isn’t just about borrowing, it’s about trust, access, and stability.
A part of why What the HEC? Credit was created, is to empower women with the knowledge, tools, and support to take control of their financial futures. One of our core goals is to help women raise their credit scores to 700 and beyond, giving them the financial confidence and freedom they deserve.
At The HelpKC, we believe that credit education is more than financial literacy, it’s economic empowerment. When women succeed financially, families and communities thrive. And with strong credit, new opportunities become possible.
We know that transforming financial futures requires collaboration. That’s why we welcome corporations, companies, and organizations to join us in this mission. By partnering with us, you can help expand access to credit education and resources for women who need it most.
